Producers Certified Weaned Calf Program

In response to the changing face of the cattle industry today and to the needs and concerns of our customers, Producers Livestock Auction Co. is preparing to offer a new division in our Stocker & Feeder Calf Sales. The Producers Certified Weaned Calf Program is merely another option in marketing your livestock. A properly administered weaning and preconditioning program will help reduce high medicine costs and death loss as well as enhancing productivity and efficiency to create a value-added product for the buyers of your cattle.
Requirements for Participation:
-contact PLAC representative for blank certification form
-obtain ear tags from PLAC representative
-wean calves at least 45 days prior to sale
-deworm and administer initial vaccinations at weaning
-administer boosters 14 to 21 days after weaning
-return completed form to PLAC at least 7 days prior to sale along with medicine receipts or copies of receipts
Additional guidelines:
-castrate (knife cut). No bull calves are allowed.
-vaccines must be administered according to label directions
-use proper size needles and administer in front of shoulder
-dehorn (highly recommended but not required)
Remember:
-a good weaning program doesn't stop with these vaccinations administered properly. The animals must have a solid feed and nutrition program whether in a lot or in a pasture. Your cattle can and must gain weight during the program at an economical level for this program to work for you.
Mandatory vaccinations at weaning:
You may use your choice of these medicines available. Other brand of equal quality in all products are acceptable. Copies of receipts, including lot numbers and expiration dates, must accompany registration form.
1.) Pasturella vaccine (1 dose at weaning)
        Pfizer-One Shot
        Fort Dodge-Presponse
        Agri Labs-PHM Bac 1
        Texas Vet Lab-Polybac B3 (includes Haemophilus somnus, therefore, you may use a
         clostridial vaccine with Haemophilus somnus if you use this vaccine).
2.) 7way Clostridial vaccine w/ Haemophilus Somnus (only 1 dose needed at weaning if vaccinated at marking, otherwise include booster 14 to 21 days later).

        Agri Labs-Clostridial 7 way w/ Somnumune
        Intervet- Vision 7 w/ somnus
        Boehringer- Barvac 7 somnus
3.) Respiratory Virus vaccine (1 dose at weaning & booster 14-21 days later)----must include modified live virus
        Pfizer-Bovishield 4
        Fort Dodge-Pyramid 4
        Agri Labs-Titanium 5
        Intervet- Frontier 4 Plus
        Intervet- 4 Once Plus
        Merial- IBR Plus 4 way
4.) Deworm at weaning
        Pfizer-Dectomax
        Pfizer-Valbazen
        Fort Dodge-Cydectin Pour On
        Fort Dodge-Synanthic
        Merial-Ivomec
        Intervet-SafeGuard/Panacur
        Agri Labs-Top Line Pour On
        Agri Labs-Double Impact Injectable
Some manufacturers offer combinations of the products listed above such as Agri Lab's Titanium 5 plus PHM Bac 1 which covers Pasturella and IBR complex. These combination products are acceptable.

10 AM Producers Certified Weaned calves sell first
Weaned calves (not certified)
All other calves and yearlings
Ribbon winners will be announced as the cattle are sold.
Your cattle will not be co-mingled with other people's cattle.
All cattle will be pre-sorted, fed & tended to as if they were our own. All cattle will be weighed as they are sold.
